The Pelham Village Fire Department hosted a ceremony
on Sunday, Sept. 11, remembering the lives lost in the
terrorist attack on the World Trade Center four years
ago. Fire Chief Robert Glover (above) presided at the
ceremonies. Firefighters and volunteer firefighters from
Pelham and Pelham Manor attended the ceremony as well as
representatives of the Pelham Police Department, Pelham
Village Mayor Michael Clain, Town Supervisor Joe
Solimine and State Sen. Jeff Klein. Rabbi David Schuck
gave the invocation. Chief Glover read the names of the
ten people with ties to the Pelhams who died in the WTC
attack They included seven Pelham or Pelham Manor
residents at the time: Montgomery Hord, NYC Fire Dept.
Lt. Joseph Leavey, Robert McLaughlin, Robert Scandole,
Daniel Shea, Joseph Shea and Michael Tamuccio; two PMHS
graduates and former residents, Thomas Hynes and Amy
O'Doherty; and Michael Bocardi, son of former Pelham
Village Police Chief Michael Bocardi. A fire bell was
then rung 3-4-3 for the 343 firefighters who died in the
attack.
